Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)
Your BAH will be used in one of two ways. You can either rent on post or you can live off post. If you live off post, you can either rent or buy. Click Here for current BAH rates.
On Post Housing ( Rent On-Post )

Aberdeen Proving Ground has been a testing facility for the M1 Abrams tanks and the M2M3 Bradley Fighting Vehicles. Due to Aberdeen Proving Ground’s design, the testing is able to be performed near industrial and shopping centers without major interruption. Real estate developers are in the process of adding new military buildings and facilities to Aberdeen Proving Ground in order to facilitate better use of the installation. Aberdeen Proving Ground is located in Aberdeen, MD and consists of two general areas near the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay. Family-oriented housing is available in nearby neighborhoods such as Baltimore, Dundalk, and Aberdeen. Off-post housing can be coordinated through the Housing Office in Building 4305 will also allows individuals to check on BAH rates which are assigned by rank. Two, three and four bedroom homes for sale and rent are available as well as apartment complexes. Barracks are provided for single soldiers and are provided on a space available basis. There are over 1,000 family housing units available for those wishing to live on post.
The Swan Creek Inn provides temporary lodging for those personnel on a waiting list. The lodging office is located in Building 2207 and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call for reservations at #410-278-5148, DSN 298. If the inn is full, off-post facilities will be arranged. Any AIT students must have permission from their First Sergeant or Company Commander to stay in temporary housing. Education is provided through the Harford County Public School system. The school district offers 32 elementary schools, 8 middle schools, and 8 high schools. Special needs children can be home schooled by the John Archer School.
